Hello,
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, we are looking to complete the work on the outside windows of Ickenham Hall. It is with great delight that we can announce that during the summer months, contractors have been in and we have almost completed this task. The window frames have been repaired, been draught-proofed, and the decorators have been in painting the windows. By the time you next visit, all the painting will have been completed.
As some of you may be aware the Compass Theatre is immanently about to undergo a period of refurbishment, although not through the Friends of Ickenham Hall. This work is expected to take place from now through to early 2016. There are still shows and classes occurring, although there may be some limitations to facilities whilst you are visiting.
Please be patient with the team at the theatre, as in the long term it will benefit your experience of visiting, and combined with the work on Ickenham Hall will enhance the venue for years to come.
What effect will this have on us you may ask? Well, firstly it was with great disappointment that we had to cancel our ever-popular Quiz Night, and our growing in popularity Comedy Nights. The cancellation of both of these was outside our control, being unaware of the access we would have to the building.
For our future events, there have been a few changes since our publicity and the theatre's publicity went to press. Our forthcoming event, Murder On PLeisure Island is still going ahead at the same time, but will now take place at the Winston Churchill Theatre.
Our Comedy Night has been postponed until further notice, as we are unsure of what the Compass Theatre will look like after the refurbishment, and what facilities and space there may be in the Cafe Bar area to host the comedy night.
Compass Christmas will still be taking place at the theatre, but we ask that you bear with us and the theatre staff while the work goes on.
That is all the major news for now from us, and the Friends of Ickenham Hall thank you all for your support from the past events and looking forward to future events, of which more details will be released soon.
